Beef chow fun is a special dish in Guangzhou, belonging to the Cantonese cuisine. It is made of rice noodles, beef, bean sprouts and other ingredients. With the passage of time, this dish gradually became a part of the food culture in Guangdong’s tea houses. Tea houses are unique dining places in Guangdong, which not only offer traditional Cantonese dishes, but also many innovative snacks and dim sum. Due to its delicious taste, ease of preparation, and affordable price,  beef chow fun is deeply loved by tea houses  and has become an indispensable dish in their menus.

  • Combine the beef and marinade ingredients and marinate for about 30 minutes.
  • Combine the sauce ingredients in a small bowl and mix well. Set aside.
  • Soak the flat rice noodles in hot water for 1 minute , then drain the noodles and set them aside for later.
  • Heat 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil in a wok over high heat. Add the beef and stir-fry for 1 minute, or until browned. Remove the beef from the wok and set aside.
  • Add another tablespoon (13g) of vegetable oil to the wok. Stir-fry the onion for 5 minutes, or until softened.
  • Add the flat rice noodles, bean sprouts, cooked beef and sauce mixture to the wok and stir-fry for 1-2 minutes.
  • Add the yellow chives and green onions to the wok. Stir-fry for 1 minute, or until all the ingredients are well combined. Serve the beef chow fun hot. Enjoy!
