  • In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, yeast and warm water. Mix until a dough forms.
  • Knead the dough for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover the dough with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours until doubled in size.
  • While the dough is rising, prepare the filling. In a mixing bowl, combine all the filling ingredients . Mix well until all the ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  • Once the dough has doubled in size, punch it down to release the air. Divide the dough into 12 small portions and shape each portion into a ball.
  • Sprinkle a small amount of flour on the board. Take a dough ball and press it down with your palm to flatten it into a small circle. Use a rolling pin to roll it out into a circle, approximately 4 inches in diameter.
  • Spoon a tablespoon of the filling into the center of the dough circle. Gather the edges of the dough and pinch them together to seal the filling inside. Repeat this process with the remaining dough and filling.
  • Place the filled buns on small squares of parchment paper and arrange them in a bamboo steamer basket, leaving some space between each bun for expansion. Cover the steamer with a lid.
  • Bring water to a boil in a pot. Place the steamer basket on top of the pot and steam the buns for about 15 minutes until the dough is cooked through and the filling is fully cooked. After 15 minutes, turn off the stove and leave the lid in place. Allow the buns to "rest" for 2 minutes before removing the lid.
  • Carefully remove the steamed pork buns from the steamer and serve them hot. They can be enjoyed on their own or with a dipping sauce of your choice.
