Bring a large pot of salted water to boil. Add the broccoli rabe and cook for 2-3 minutes until just tender. Drain and immediately transfer the broccoli rabe to a bowl of ice water to stop the cooking process. Once cooled, drain and pat dry.

In a pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using), sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Add the blanched broccoli rabe to the pan. Sauté for 3-4 minutes, coating the broccoli rabe in the garlic-infused oil. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.
