  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a standard loaf pan with butter or cooking spray.
  • Peel the ripe bananas and place them in a large mixing bowl. Mash the bananas with a fork until they are smooth. You can leave some small chunks for texture if you prefer. Pour the melted butter into the mashed bananas and stir until well combined.
  • Add the baking soda, salt, sugar, egg and vanilla extract to the banana mixture, and mix thoroughly. Gradually add the all-purpose flour to the banana mixture, mixing until just combined. Fold in walnuts.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for approximately 60-65 minutes. Baking times may vary, so it's a good idea to start checking at 60 minutes.
  • Once baked, remove the banana bread from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack. Wait until it has cooled completely before slicing.
