Ingredients
  • 1 cucumber (sliced)
  • 12 cherry tomatoes (halved)
  • 1/2 red onion (thinly sliced)
  • Handful of fresh cilantro (chopped)
  • Handful of fresh mint leaves
  • Handful of fresh basil leaves
  • Steak:
  • 1 lb (453g) beef steak (such as sirloin or flank steak)
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) salt
  • 1/2 tsp (1g) ground black pepper
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) vegetable oil
  • Dressing:
  • 1 green onion (thinly sliced)
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1-2 Thai chili peppers (thinly sliced)
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) lime juice
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) fish sauce
  • 1 tbsp (15ml) olive oil
  • 1 tbsp (13g) brown sugar
  • Salt (to taste)
Instructions
  1. Add salt and ground black pepper to the steak, ensuring it is evenly coated. Allow the steak to marinate for at least 30 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a large skillet over high heat. Sear the steak for 3 or 4 minutes on each side or until it reaches your desired level of doneness. Allow it to rest for a few minutes, then thinly slice it against the grain.
  3. In a small bowl, mix together all the dressing ingredients. Stir well until the brown sugar is dissolved.
  4. In a large salad bowl, combine the sliced beef, cucumber, cherry tomato, red onion, cilantro, mint, and basil.
  5. Pour the dressing over the salad and toss gently to coat all the ingredients. Season with salt to taste.
