Ingredients
-
1
lb
(450 g) ground beef
-
1
tbsp
(12 g) vegetable oil
-
4
cloves garlic
(minced)
-
1/2
onion
(finely sliced)
-
1
tsp
(4 g) sesame oil
-
1
tsp
(3 g) toasted sesame seeds
-
2
green onions
(thinly sliced)
-
Cooked rice
(for serving)
-
Optional: lettuce leaves for wrapping
Sauce:
-
4
tbsp
(64 g) soy sauce
-
1
tbsp
(15 g) mirin
-
2
tbsp
(26 g) sugar
Instructions
-
In a large bowl, whisk together the sauce ingredients. Mix well to create the marinade. Add the ground beef to the marinade and mix until the beef is evenly coated. Let it marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
-
Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the onion and garlic to the skillet and sauté until fragrant.
-
Then add the marinated ground beef to the skillet. Cook, breaking up the beef with a spatula, until it is browned and cooked through, about 7-8 minutes.
-
Turn off the stove. Drizzle sesame oil over the dish and sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped green onions as garnish. Serve the ground beef hot over cooked rice. Optionally, you can also serve it with lettuce leaves for wrapping.
Recipe Notes
You can adjust the seasoning according to your taste preferences. Additionally, feel free to add vegetables like bell peppers, or mushrooms for extra flavor and nutrition.
