  • 2 tbsp (26g) brown sugar
  • 1/4 tsp (0.6g) ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp (28g) unsalted butter
  • Maple syrup
  • Fresh berries
  • Powdered sugar
Instructions
  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, whole milk, vanilla extract, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, and a pinch of salt. Ensure that the brown sugar is well dissolved.
  2. Dip each slice of bread into the custard mixture, ensuring both sides are well coated.
  3. In a large skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Once the butter is hot, add the soaked bread slices. Cook until the bottom side is golden brown and caramelized. This usually takes 2-3 minutes. Flip the bread slices using a spatula and cook the other side until it's also golden brown and caramelized.
  4. Transfer the caramelized French toast to serving plates. Drizzle with maple syrup for that extra sweetness. You can also garnish with fresh berries and dust with powdered sugar for a delightful presentation.
