Ingredients
  • 1 lb (453g) broccoli
  • 2 cloves of garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp (12g) vegetable oil
  • 1 tbsp (9g) white sesame seeds (toasted)
  • Sauce:
  • 2 tbsp (28g) oyster sauce
  • 1 tbsp (16g) soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp (15g) water (or chicken stock)
  • 1 tsp (4g) sesame oil
  • 1 tsp (4g) cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp (3g) salt
  • 1/2 tsp (2g) sugar
Instructions
  1. Combine the sauce ingredients in a small bowl. Stir well to ensure the cornstarch is fully dissolved.
  2. Thoroughly wash the broccoli and break it into small florets, cutting away the tough stems.
  3. In a pot, bring water to a boil, add a pinch of salt to the boiling water. Blanch the broccoli in the boiling water for about 1 minute until it turns bright green and becomes slightly tender. Drain the broccoli and transfer it to a bowl. Set it aside.
  4. Heat a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add the vegetable oil and minced garlic. Stir-fry for about 30 seconds until the garlic becomes fragrant and lightly golden.
  5. Pour the oyster sauce mixture in the skillet. Stir-fry for an additional 1 minute or until the sauce thickens.
  6. Pour the sauce over the broccoli and garnish with sesame seeds. Ensure that all the broccoli florets are well coated with the sauce.
  7. Serve the delicious broccoli in oyster sauce as a side dish with steamed rice. Enjoy!
