Heavenly Chocolate Brownies

Chocolate brownies have a storied history that dates back over a century. Born in the early 20th century in the United States, they were initially a result of a baking mishap – the absence of baking powder in a chocolate cake recipe. The result was a denser, fudgier treat that has since become a beloved classic.

Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick / 115g) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp (4g) pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup (58 g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp (1g) baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp (1g) salt
  • 1/4 cup (40 g) chocolate chips
Instructions
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 8-inch square baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan over low heat. Allow it to cool slightly.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, mix together the butter and sugar. Add the vanilla extract and eggs, and beat in the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Finally, gently fold in the chocolate chips into the brownie batter, making sure everything is well combined.
  4. Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes.
  5. Let the brownies cool down completely. After they've cooled, feel free to cut them into squares or rectangles of your desired size.
